We search public music rights data, principally the Mechanical Licensing Collective's public musical works database, and present what we find about the songs you ask about. Where you give us a link to your released catalogue, we also compare that catalogue against what is registered and report the differences.
Single lookups and summary counts are free. Detailed reports are paid.
We are not the MLC and we are not affiliated with it. The underlying data is theirs and is published by them; we present and compare it.
Nothing here is legal, financial or tax advice. A report tells you what a registry currently says. It does not establish who owns a song, and it is not evidence of ownership.
The MLC states that the accuracy and completeness of its database is determined by its members. We report what that data says at the time we read it, and every report carries the date it was read. Registrations change, so a report is a snapshot and not a continuing statement of fact.
We take care not to report a song as unclaimed when the data is ambiguous, and we mark results we cannot determine rather than guessing. Even so, we do not warrant that any result is complete or free of error, and you should verify anything you intend to act on.
Some sources limit how much data they will return in one request. Where that happens we say so in the report rather than presenting a partial result as a complete one.
You may use the service for songs you wrote, own, control, administer or represent, or are considering acquiring. You may not use it to compile data about third parties for unrelated purposes, to resell our reports as your own, or to make automated requests at a volume that interferes with the service or with the sources we read.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you give us. If you tell us a writer name that is not yours, the report will be about somebody else.
Reports are priced on the page before you buy. Payment is taken at purchase and the report is delivered immediately.
Because a report is delivered as soon as it is bought, you agree that performance begins immediately and, to the extent permitted by law, you waive any statutory right of withdrawal in respect of it. If a report is materially wrong because of an error on our side, tell us within 30 days and we will correct it or refund it.
Where you later enter into a publishing administration agreement with us, the price of a report you have already bought is credited against our share, as stated at the time of purchase.
The underlying rights data belongs to its sources and is used under their terms. The way we present, compare and structure it, along with this site, its text and its design, belongs to us. Reports are licensed to you for your own use, including sharing them with your advisers, administrator or publisher. They may not be resold or redistributed as a product.
We provide the free parts of the service as they are, without warranty. For paid reports, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the report in question.
We are not liable for royalties you do not receive, for claims you do not file, for decisions you take on the basis of a report, or for the acts of the MLC, a collecting society, a publisher or any other third party. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service. The data sources we rely on are third parties and can change or become unavailable without notice to us.
These terms are governed by French law. The courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction, save where a mandatory consumer protection rule gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated version.
